She was the first woman of color to study pediatric cardiology in the United States. She completed a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at John R. Oishei Children's Hospital in Buffalo, New York, and completed her residency in echocardiography at the University of Alabama.
A member of the Medication Safety Officers Society, the doctor is board-certified in both pediatrics and pediatric cardiology by the American Board of Pediatrics, which is an independent and nonprofit organization that was founded in 1933. It is one of the 24 certifying boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties.
Pediatric cardiologists are pediatricians who specialize in cardiology. They treat diseases and abnormalities of the heart and circulatory system in children.
