The release comes as options trading continues to expand. The Options Clearing Corporation cleared 15.2 billion options contracts in 2025, a 24.4% increase over 2024, and traders increasingly incorporate automation into their overall strategy, notes the team at ACondor.

ACondor runs three core strategies, explains founder Robin Lilly. Its mechanical engine sells iron condors when implied volatility is elevated and no earnings report falls within the trade window. An earnings engine opens iron condors ahead of a company's report and closes them the next morning, while a volatility contraction engine trades short-dated positions after non-earnings volatility spikes.

New entries stop when the VIX reaches 35 and during Federal Reserve and consumer price index release windows. Per-account circuit breakers halt new entries after realized losses of $500 or 5% of net liquidating value in a day, or $1,500 or 10% in a week. These controls do not close existing positions, which continue under fixed exit rules.

Robin Lilly, a software architect who has traded options for more than 40 years, built ACondor to automate his own mechanical strategy.
